makgeolli: name that scum

I got this white surface scum on the 7th day. I stirred it up as part of the daily ritual. it came back the 8th day and I took a picture. I ladelled it off with a spoon. I figured while it was on the spoon: it didn't seem to have any taste different than the liquid.

Looks like pellicle to me, not sure what you're brewing though, so can't say if it's a good thing or not.

There aren't any bugs in Lalvin 1118.
And that's definitely a beauty of a pellicle.

Not sure what it is but I'd guess Brett...

it's rice and a bit o' barley grains. and it's sour.

I'm not convinced that's true...
