So I have a batch of Ed Worts Apfelwine in my closet that I got together on Halloween and I would like to get another batch going while I wait for it to finish up so im wondering if i can just put a sealed lid on that bucket and pick up another one so I don't need to get another airlock and stuff. I know the lid seals very well, its under a high negative pressure at the moment so I dont think contamination would be much of an issue.

So basically, do I need it under an airlock for the next couple weeks or should a sealed lid be ok?

pay the two bucks for the new airlock and stopper, you can never have too many

+1 go buy the air lock

worst case scenario, you have another vessel you can use as a primary.

best case scenario, you save an explosion and loss of that apfelwein.
