LME vs DME amount

Hi all,

I'm doing my first brew with LME and the recipe calls for 5lbs of DME. I've read that the ratio is 1.1lbs LME to 1lb DME. Of course this was after I bought it. Will I be OK using 5lbs of LME or should I go grab an extra .5lbs?

the lovibond of the finished product is more predictable when using DME vs LME. Make sure the LME is unhopped, unless that is what you are looking for

I convert it at 1.2.
or use 80% DME for a given LME weight.

5lbs DME would be 6lbs LME

I subscribe to the 1.1 lbs LME to 1 lb DME formula. I base this on LME yielding 36 ppg and dry yielding 40 ppg. It has always worked for me
