My first attempt at making Skeeter Pee was sketchy at first. I followed the directions exactly, but after pitching the lees from a batch of cider, I had no fermentation. I rehydrated some lalvin champagne yeast and pitched it, waited a week, but nothing. Figured I'd try one more thing before giving up and sprinkled a packet of red star on the surface--less than 20 minutes and things took off! I've discovered that I have terrible luck with anything other than dry yeast sprinkled on the surface, both with brewing and with baking (proofing yeast for bread is typically done by surface sprinkling). Whatever the case, this batch is going NUTS!
