Hello, I am in search of a specialty recipe for the James Squire Pepperberry Winter Ale (Australia).

I first tried this beer in late 2008 when I lived in South Australia and absolutely fell in love with it. It was very hard to find at the time (locally) and was very limited.

I've scoured the interwebs looking for a clone recipe with no luck. I see a few other people have asked for it but no responses...

I am curious if there are any winter ale recipes using Pepperberry? It is a strange plant native to Australia. I see bad reviews for this beer online. People talk about "tamarind, raisin, chocolate, apple" tastes.

I have contacted the brewery in hopes of getting an idea of what the ingredients were, or having them shed some light onto this strange ale. I remember my job brought us beers every Friday and I sampled this, and went down to Dan Murphy's and bought a six pack for myself! It was $22, which is rather normal for a six pack in Oz.

I remember this beer being a dark chocolatey peppery flavor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would imagine that their current Porter has similar ingredients??

Here is some unfavorable reviews on the beer, but it describes the characteristics:

Here's a thread of Australians discussing it when it came out:

I would really like to brew something of this nature...I've never made a porter, nor have I ever worked with Pepperberry. Anybody on here have any experience or any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciate, thanks!
