Is my yeast bad?

So I made a starter last week using White Labs WLP802,after getting everything sanitized and into my E flask,I noticed several dark floaties in suspension. I figured it was from my foam stopper as it was old and getting crusty. I decided to ditch the starter and put off brewing a Czech Lager for a week,and ordered another packet of WLP802 from Morebeer,where I got the first pitch. Upon opening the pure pitch packet I noticed there were several dark floaties in there as well,and the consistency was real runny,not the usual consistency. I've never used this yeast before. Is this normal for this strain? I've enclosed pics. Thanks!

When White Labs has been asked about this they indicated it was "normal" and attributed it to using malt extract...
