I recently obtained a 15.5 gallon Keg that I am working to convert into a brew kettle. I obtained a weldless "Kettle Valve" and "Kettle Screen" to install. I am wondering how high up from the bottom of the keg that I should drill the 7/8" hole for the valve? Has anyone installed this type of valve and screen in a keg before?

Thanks,
Mike

drill the hole so the bottom of it is just above the curve on the bottom of the keg. that setup is what i usually use

I think you would want a dip tube to attach that screen to, otherwise it will be pretty high off the bottom of the keggle.

That is what I was worried about. How would you make a dip tube that would attach to this set up?
