Just signed up and just started brewing beer. Looks like some good info here, currently distracting me from working.

I live in a small town in Alaska that gets freight one of two ways, by air or by barge. Love it here but shipping sucks. So my current problem is getting ingredients, I tried to put together an order from one of the larger online homebrew supply sites, it would have been $50 shipping for a $50 order. Does anyone have any leads for places that know how to ship to Alaska?

Thanks.

How about Washington State,or Oregon? They're close by,& should have a home brew shop that can help. They may even have a web site.

These two companies will ship USPS to Alaska and they will use flat rate shipping if at all possible. They are limited somewhat however in that they can not ship some liquid items this way.
Steve at Bader Brewing is way helpful, I've talked to him on the phone and via email numerous times getting orders squared away. Give him a call.
Where bouts in AK are you?

FYI,
AHB does not ship flat rate to Alaska or Hawaii

I'm in Southeast, so Washington/Oregon really end up being closer and easier than getting things from Anchorage.

Thanks for the links, I will check them out. My first ingredient kit I got from a small place in Oregon, they shipped in a flat rate box for me. It wasn't something they really do regularly and it was kind of a struggle to get them to put it together. So hopefully I can find someone that is a little more used to shipping. My first batch is getting ready to head to bottles and I'm getting pumped to get another batch going!

Hey I also live in Alaska and I had the same issue on getting some ingredients to my door. I have e-mailed a few different online stores and found brewermasterwarehouse.com shipped USPS flat rate to me. My friend also had an order shipped to him through the same company. Just need to contact them and let them know you want it shipped USPS

Hope you can get some ingredients and continue brewing
