Too cool....the Belgians love their beer!!!

A couple of years ago we went to Belgium on a family vacation and my daughter ended up in the hospital for a couple of days. When she was asked what she wanted for lunch and dinner there was beer on the menu, I almost fell off my chair.:D

There is an artificial reef here in San Diego which is a retired Canadian Destroyer Escort that I dive. I have the deck plans and they had a "beer room" which had a vending machine for beer. We have plans on going back to this room and drinking a beer underwater .

But I think a sit down bar with taps tops that.

A Belgian friend of mine shared a bottle of beer with me that was brewed / distributed ONLY in a hospital (for the patients health, I presume!). He got the bottle as a gift after doing some consulting work for the hospital. it was a few years old, and I'd call it a Belgian Pale Ale...needless to say time was not kind to this one, but I thought it was REALLY cool. I wish hospitals in the U.S. subscribed to that philosophy. Wish I could recall the name of the hospital/beer.

It's not uncommon for many of the worlds navy to allow beer and even spirits on board and allow consumption as long as you dont get impaired. The US is more of the exception to this then the rule.
