I racked 6 gallons of cider to secondary and got lazy/busy/distracted and left my 30 liter Spiedel with about a gallon of fermented cider sitting on top of the cake, open (with new autosiphon and bottling wand in it) for about a week. When I finally remembered about it I ran to check on it only to find a thick pellicle.
This WAS my only 'clean' fermentor, up until now. Will a thorough Oxi soak, scrubbing, Oxi soak, wiping, hot water soak followed by a starsan soak salvage this or should I just add it to my sour arsenal?...
My fear is that we have fruit flies in our house and the fermentor not only has a pellicle, but it smells a little bit like nail-polish remover. I guess this is an appropriate punishment for getting lazy, but this really aggravates me...
