I just got done brewing an nut brown ale that turned out to have an original gravity of 1.090. I put in a packet of yeast and I want to know can the 1 packet alone ferment my beer?

This is a complex topic. The short answer is "yes, but not well". The long answer is that you should do some research on yeast pitching rates if you want your beers to be free of funky off flavors.

according to:
http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html
you would need between 1.5 and 2, 11 gram packs, depending on the date.
if you used an 11 gram pack you underpitched if it was a 5 gram pack you really underpitched
so you all you can do now is wait and see
it will probably be OK

Thanks for the help. I went home to find the packet the yeast came in and found its a 11.5 gram bag. I'm hoping for the best
