How many times? (Stir Bar!)

How many times will i forget to use the darn magnet to hold the stir bar in my flask while dumping in my yeast starter? Klunk!

I'm 3 out of 4 times forgetting... man i'm forgetfull!

Make sure you use a strong enough magnet if you are going to use it to hold the stirbar in place when you pitch...Someone suggested using another stirbar...

I used a refrigerator magnet when I pitched my starter on Monday....

My stirbar is in my primary.

Been there done that, a couple more times as well. :blush:

grab some rare earth magnets, I got a big pack and use them for everything, they're great for the fridge.

I have a long pair of tweezers that fit in my biggest flask. I sanitize that and the stirbar jumps to it, and I pull it out now.

I did it too for the first time this weekend.

Just get a hand held strainer. Sanitize it and pour the starter through it.

I stick a magnet to the outside of the flask and drag the stir bar up the side. At the top it just snaps to my magnet. Then I pitch. Nothing goes in to the starter, the magnet just pops out.

Ha, I always remember at the last second when I hear a clink from it hitting the side of the growler. Lucky I pour slowly into a funnel.

yeah we use those in my lab. it's just a stick with a magnet in it, lol.

Interesting. I usually just pour carefully without any magnets or tools and just make sure the bar doesn't fall into the bucket
