Got a recipe for that oatmeal stout? ;-)

Sure!

5 Gallon Batch

5 lbs. American 2-Row Pale
2 lbs. Munich Malt
1 lbs. CaraPils
1 lbs. Rolled Oats
12 oz. Crystal 40
8 oz. Chocolate Malt
8 oz. Roasted Barley

1 oz. Fuggles Hops

Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale Yeast

Irish Moss

I mashed the grain at 152 degrees for 60 minutes, and did 2 batch sparges at 170. I boiled the hops for 75 minutes. I chilled the wort to about 75 degrees before pitching my yeast starter and it is now fermenting at about 68 degrees. Let me know if I missed anything.

I just brewed my first batch last night so I'm not sure how it tastes, but it sure smelled good! I don't think it will be real strong on the hops though. I put it in on brewology101.com and it said 16 IBU's.

Stout seems popular this week. I just did 10 gallons of oatmeal rye stout.
32263.5+10=32273.5

Indeed it is. Once my holiday ale is out of primary next week, I will be making a chocolate cherry stout.

Yes, but in the SWMBO's opinion, with one important difference. No pumpkin. :cross: She hates pumpkin. We actually plan to serve the beer with cookies made with similar ingredients.

I noticed, but the thing is, a lot of people and even commercial breweries don't actually bother with pumpkin at all in their "pumpkin" beers, as many contend that you can't taste the pumpkin anyways.

It's more about the pumpkin pie spice than anything else, which is a blend of the exact spices you're using ;) Though you're also using vanilla.

I would say that it was the exact planned blend of spices; at least until I put Star Anise in instead of allspice :drunk:. Licorice beer, anyone?

Ick. Licorice/licorice-tasting herbs were actually used quite a bit in traditional British ales though, so it definitely has its fans.
