So I manage to weasel my way into a real brewery for a brewday. In all honesty, the brewer was more than happy to show me the ropes (for which I am hugely grateful). We brewed about 500 gallons of brown ale. I think I am most surprised in the similarities in the process between brewing at this scale and that of the homebrewer. I would assume in the larger, production based, breweries they have more technical and automted processes, but I am glad I saw a process where you still have to pull levers and diconnect/reconnect hoses.

Thats awesome.

The cleanup looks like quite a pain in the ass though. What do they do with their spent grain?

farmers feed it to the livestock!

i still think you should have grabbed a barrel on your way out :D they would never have noticed!
