Hey all!

I am going to replace this 1800 watt brew heater http://ahbtestshop.com.mytempweb.com/p/1815/electric-brew-heater-11 with a Hot Rod heat stick. The above works great for me the way it's set up but it is starting to show some wear so it's going to need to be replaced in the near future. Up grade time! :rockin:

This is how I want to set up the Hot Rod with a 2000 watt element to mash and boil on 120v:

  • Hot Rod with temp probe.
  • Cord running to control box
  • Control box has a Mash/Off/Boil switch. Also has a digital temp read out with temp control up or down and shuts off when target temp is reached.
  • Cord running to 120V GFI wall socket

Could someone recommend where to source these parts online?

What parts would you use for a kick ass set up?

Thanks so much and I look forward to your replies!

Dave

There are so many ways to take it!

You've likely seen this, but a good start about controlling the HotRod itself would be from Bobby's Thread

There are a couple of places that deal with electric controllers listed on the HBT Sponsor List.

Also, you can build your own following the many build threads, sourcing parts on your own.

Or if you are looking for a turnkey system, prebuilt, take a look at Colorado_Brewing_Systems. They might have what you want.

I am sure there are others.

dont forget you need a 20A 120v outlet with heavier 12g wiring to the electric panel for 2000w if you dont already have it... the outlet should have the horizontal plug hole like this one.
