I need to use .5 oz of Horizon for bittering in a recepie but I cannot find some. I looked and Magnum is a substitution for it.

I read that it might cause problem because Horizon 12% is a low cohumulone hop. I'm not quite sure what it means and I'm not sure if the magnum 13% a cohumulone hop.

any help here would help.

Thanks

Ernie

Low cohumulone basically means that the hop's bitterness is perceived as being less harsh. "Clean" bittering hops like magnum and horizon are good for bittering for this reason.

you can adjust the amount based on the AA% to get the same IBU as the horizon hop charge.

Personally, I would just go ounce for ounce, since they are probably darned close.
