Back in 1996 I bought a wine making kit. We made a batch at my girlfriend's (now wife 
) apartment. She said she likes her wine on the "sweet" side... so I added extra sugar. I am sure you can guess what happened when we tried to bottle it. Corks were popping left and right. Well, it was sweet.
The 2nd batch was much better. So much so that my future father-in-law left empty wine bottles at the door to let me know he was out. I felt like the milkman.
Anyway, going to give this beer thing a go! Gettin' paid at the end of the month and I have the O.K. from the wife.
