Hi all,

I'm thinking of halving the recipe for the brew I'm planning, as 40 pints is lot of beer if I'm not keen on it.

I'm assuming that I just half all of the ingredients, but do I still mash and boil for the same time as a full batch?

Excellent - thanks for confirming that :0)

I'm still very much in the early days of brewing, so it's fun to try different styles so I can brew more often - I only have so much space available, so having a few smaller batches fermenting is doable. Maybe 5 litre batches to get around 10 bottles.

Yes for malt but you cant just half the hops and get the same IBUs. Brewers friend has a recipe sheet on which you can input the full recipe and then change the batch size. This will work it out so you can match what your wanting to make

ahh, that sounds perfect - I'll have a look at that program
