Currently working with a group opening a 10BBL brewpub and one of the things we would like to do is have a smaller "pilot" system on which we can experiment & do small batches of limited releases, etc. We are thinking of having a 1-BBL system with a couple of 2-BBL fermenters, which would be jacketed and tied into the bigger system's glycol.
We don't have a real good way to ventilate a gas-fired system so are looking at an electric setup for the 1-BBL pilot system. We'd have access to the hot and cold liquor tanks from the 10-BBL system. We'd probably just weld up a frame on casters then set the vessels on it and have pumps, controllers, etc mounted as well. Maybe a 55-g Blichmann kettle to boil in; then would another (smaller) similar kettle work for an MLT or what would you do? I see a lot of half-BBL systems that use decommissioned Sanke kegs for this purpose, but we need something bigger.
Anyone got some advice to share here?
