I am about to start harvesting my yeast to save a couple of bucks.

I have a few questions:

I generally do 2 weeks in the primary then two weeks in the secondary. Can I harvest the yeast from what is left in the primary and then again in the secondary? Or should I focus on one or the other?

How long is it good?

Can I freeze it to make it last longer?
edit . . . I found this article on freezing https://www.homebrewtalk.com/freezing-yeast.html

Cheers,

Scott

If you harvest from primary you're selecting more flocculent cells, versus the less flocculent cells you'll harvest from the secondary.
But as long as you combine them before use you'd have the full spectrum.

You can hold yeast cold for months, then build up a pitch using starters. Beyond that time frame there are techniques for freezing small quantities of yeast that include a prescribed percentage of glycerin.

btw, why are you using a "secondary"?
Far more likely than not it's unnecessary, and potentially harmful...

Cheers!
