where .080 is the increase of gravity you are seeking beyond 1.ooo and .046 is the per pound gravity point value of sugar dissolved in 1 gallon of water.

Thanks I have a bunch of sour pie cherries and want to end at 1085 or close to that. Going to start with 3 lbs of cherries and 1.75 lbs sugar per gal.

Interesting. Since cherries add 0.12 to 0.13 pounds of sugar per pound of fruit as per more beer dot com, that would be similar to adding .36 to .39 additional pounds of plain sugar.

Spent I ended up with 19 lbs of cherries. I used 8 1/2 lbs of sugar and 4 and 1/4 gallons of water. This made 5 1/2 gallons of liquid ans the smashed cherries take the total volume to 7 gallons. What do you calculate my gravity to be? Thanks
