I've been wanting to play with golden naked oats in a brew but can't really figure out what style I want to use them in. I won't really be ready to brew again until the end of Feb / early March so that kinda puts me out of dark beer season (plus I've got a stout in the keg and just bottled a brown ale).
I'm imagining something a little more pale and golden in color, maybe using honey malts as well.
How do you think the GNO would play in a lighter beer? I know Yooper has praised it in her APA's before. I wasn't sure if the nutiness would be better used with a different style. My other issue is the hop retention. I'd prefer to have something that could sit around in the keg for a couple months so that kinda rules out an IPA or APA in my opinion.
I was also thinking about using them in something more like a Belgian Tripel but the guidelines for a tripel don't say anything about nutiness. The fruit-nut flavor could work though possibly?
Anyway, i'm just looking for some suggestions or ideas right now. If you have any advice please let me know!
