I have been reading up on glass etching, thinking it would be fun to etch some glasses and bottles. It seems pretty straight forward - burn a screen, adhere the screen to the glass, coat with etching gel.

Anyone have experience with this?

A friend has a small screen printing biz and it turns out they can etch glass as well. I would like to know a resource for a small quantity of glasses. I see I can get tulip glasses on Amazon.com made by Libbey for $20. Is there a better price point?

I do it with a Dremel and a carbide ball bit or a silicone carbide stone. Simply draw on the glass and cut off the markings. You can print your design on paper then tape that to the inside of a glass and follow it. You want to drip some water on your cutter to help keep it cool while cutting and to keep the dust down.

Wear a fine breathing mask if doing it dry.

All the Best,
D. White
