I was looking at GFCI breakers and found this setup on line for $56.97. Does anyone know of a cheaper solution?

I only need about 6 feet of wire but I can't find 10 gauge 4 wire cable on their site. Do I need a 4 wire cable to the spa panel or can I run a 3 wire cable? If I need 4 wire does anyone have a link to the cable? I want to order everything from Home Depot because I'll get free shipping if the order is over $45.00.
 
that is a pretty good deal. just a 50 amp GFCI can cost that much.
 
if it is SOOW wire, then a 14/3 is 3 wires. hot neutral and ground.

if it is Romex then 14/3 is 4 wires. Black,red,white and ground. the ground has no insulation so it is not counted in the nomenclature.

10 Guage is only rated for 30 amps. You will need 6 guage. Look for 6/3 which will include 2 hots, a neutral, and an uninsulated ground wire (which is not counted as it does not carry current)

Thanks but I'm only going to put a 30 Amp breaker in my main panel because I am going to use a 30 Amp dryer plug. That's why I was looking for #10 wire.

I did some chasing and it looks like I need some ROMEX 10/3 with ground. I'm staying with 30 amps because the breaker that fits my panel is only $15 and the surface mount dryer outlet is about $17. Assuming I can get Home Depot to cut me a piece of wire I can have power run for less than $100.
 
Another option you might want to consider is wiring the spa panel so you can plug it into your outlet. It would allow you to take the GFCI spa panel with you if you wanted to travel. In that case you would want to go with SOOW rather than Romex. Also, if you do a permanent install, you do have electrical code considerations as to what you can do with the Romex. There are folks here who understand the details on that far better than I. :)

this is the same unit I bought and used in my build... the breaker in this box is cheaper than if you buy just this breaker from home depot.

I never thought of doing it this way. My budget is $100 and I'll add up the cost and see what it comes to.

If I stay inside my budget I can afford one of the small brew panels in about three weeks. If I go over I have to wait another week and will probably need to buy another tank of propane which will push me out a additional week. I already have the wavy stainless steel element and stainless steel nut.
