Flavoring, Extracts, or Emulsions?

Has anyone had any luck using these flavorings at bottling? I'm looking to make a Choc PB Stout and my last attempt I used PB2 with no luck and ended up with a PB extract. My online search has me now seeing all sorts of options. Extracts are alcohol based, flavorings are water and I'm clueless what emulsions are.
