Like many others, I had the leaky picnic tap problem. I bought 5 on ebay and when I tested them, they all leaked. Three others I bought locally never had a problem.

After cursing all 3 billion Chinese, each one individually, I found a way to fix them.

1. I stretched the springs by about 1/16". This alone did not fix the problem.

2. I sanded down the handle - where it touches the rest of the tap to allow the plunger to go down further

Now they don't leak any more (tested to 30PSI )

Hope this helps!
