Could I get some feedback on a recipe I am trying to formulate? I am inspired by Widmer's Columbia Common and this is my first hack at a recipe for something similar.
Here is the website for the inspiration:
http://widmerbrothers.com/beer/#columbia-common
And here is my take on it:
Boil Time: 60 min Equipment:
Batch Size: 5.5 Gallons
Ingredients
Amt Name Type # %/IBU
7 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 65.7 %
2 lbs 8.0 oz Munich 20L (Briess) (20.0 SRM) Grain 2 23.5 %
1 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 3 9.4 %
2.4 oz Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM) Grain 4 1.4 %
0.25 oz Millenium [14.25 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 5 11.4 IBUs
0.25 oz Warrior [15.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 6 12.0 IBUs
1.00 oz Columbia [5.50 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 7 8.7 IBUs
1.00 oz Willamette [5.50 %] - Boil 0.0 min Hop 8 0.0 IBUs
1.0 pkg California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) [35.49 ml] Yeast 9 -
1.0 pkg San Francisco Lager (White Labs #WLP810) [35.49 ml] Yeast 10 -
Beer Profile
Est Original Gravity: 1.049 SG Measured Original Gravity: 1.046 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.009 SG Measured Final Gravity: 1.010 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 5.3 % Actual Alcohol by Vol: 4.7 %
Bitterness: 32.1 IBUs Calories: 151.6 kcal/12oz
Est Color: 13.6 SRM
I am looking for critiques, changes, or don't brew that, you'll have swill! Recipe formulation is something I want to get into and any tips would be great.
Thank you!
