Anyone do the following?

Hop spider in the boil kettle to filter hops from plate chiller.

Recirculate hot wort through pump to plate chiller, back to kettle through a whirlpool tube.

Pull hop spider and continue whirlpool till pitch temp.

Let cold and hot break settle for a few minutes, and the drain to fermentor.

Just trying to figure out a good way to remove hot break with a hop spider

Should work, but I have found hop spiders killed my hop utilization. Plate chillers clog very easily ......I know cause I used to use one. I find a counterflow better suits my needs. I started a thread a while back about why I was getting rid of my plate chiller. I have been very happy with my counterflow.

But yes, in theory your design will work but I don't like to bag hops. Cheers.

Ideally I would sell my plate chiller, and buy a cfc.

Free float the hops, recirculate the chilling through the pump, cfc, and then back to the kettle for a whirlpool. Let settle, then drain to fermentor.

Will the blichmann hopblocker work on a recirc. chill? Just wanting an extra filter
