I'm a newbie, so I'm not sure what fermenting wine is supposed to smell like. Smells like a little bit of rotting juice, not horrible but not delicious ya know. Is this normal? It's about 3 days into it and at 79F, Shiraz.

completely normal. it's the gas being released, like farting! just wait till you start doing it more, you'll love that smell! my whole basement smelled like fermenting strawberries the other night. at no point is it ever gonna smell delicious (or taste) until it's done and some decent aging and if you like it sweet adding sugar. don't be discouraged by smells or taste, keep going.
