I am using Safale US-05 for an IPA recipe. I am currently at 72.8 or so while the recipe calls for 66 for days 1-2, and then 69. I do not have a temperature controller/freezer yet. My only option is to put the carboy in an unused bathroom, and put a room air conditioner in the window. Is it worth the effort for ~5 degrees cooler for this yeast?

One thing to consider is that the temps given are normally beer temps, not ambient. Actively fermenting beer can be several degrees higher than ambient.
You can try to equilibrate it more by putting the fermenter in a big tub of cool water in the room with cool ambient air. That will help diffuse the heat out of it better.

I have it cooling off now, the glass car boy is giving me a surface reading of 69.5 F compared to my earlier reading of 72.9
