Fermentation Fast Start

I've got a couple of dozen extract brew days under my belt now with very good results. I brewed an English Pale Ale this morning. Basically a routine brew day. I chuckle when I think how stressful my first was . . . . planning everything out, trying to sinc everything, worrying about sanitation, basically running around like crazy person and worrying about everything I did.

Now it is just a casual (and enjoyable) affair. I am usually very happy with airlock activity withn the first 24 hours and ecstatic on those days when 4 hours does the trick. But today . . . . I must have really created an ideal environment for the Nottingham beasties. One hour and fifteen minutees after pitching, this thing is off to the races. Life is good!

Awesome! The fastest start I've had was 6-8 hours.

What type of yeast, liquid or dry, what supplier? Did you make a starter?

It was Nottingham dry yeast mixed in warm water 15 minutes prior to pitching.
