Anyone know if there is a false bottom that fits this pot or if it has to be custom? Thanks.

thanks... they seem hella expensive though. or is it just me? also, can't you just make a dip tube yourself out of copper tubing and a compresion fitting? why the need for SS?

I also have a 80-qt winware pot that I want to get a false bottom for. Did the above midwest supplies false bottom work? Or did you go with something else? Also, do you have a weldless fitting for the spigot? Did the height of the weldless kit cause any problems?

I work at Midwest Supplies on weekends if you want me to make a detailed measurement for you. I might not be in there for a few days, but I'm sure the phone guys would be able to get an accurate measurement for you. Make sure they actually measure it.

I measured the internal diameter last night: its a bit over 19 5/8 inches. Assuming that they aren't off on the name of this product, this 19 5/8" false bottom from Midwest Supplies should work! Also, the weldless bulkhead (I have the silicone seal from Bargain fittings) can be configured to fit under this false bottom. I'll update once I have everything in place.

Edit: for some reason the link doesn't take you to the expected product. Let's try tinyurl: this 19 5/8" false bottom

Cool, let us know how it fits, if not perfectly maybe some silicon hose cut in half to use as a gasket would make it a perfect fit. Let us know how it goes cause then I will pull the trigger on one.

Cheers

Got all the parts, put it together on Friday and brewed 18 gallons of an IPA with it (44 lbs. of grain). Fits like a glove in the Winco 80-quart. With the bottom sitting flush against one "side", there is probably around 3/64-1/8 inch gap on the other side. The fittings are from bargainfittings.com. Due to the slight curvature on the bottom of the pot, I had to drill the spigot hole so the top of the inside weldless 1/2 NPT was right at the height of the false bottom. This was easily fixed by picking up some stainless steel nuts to put under the false bottoms legs.

As of right now (April 2012), there is a seller on Amazon selling this pot for $100 + shipping. The entire fittings (including thermometer and diptube), pot, and false bottom cost approx. $270 + shipping. The finished product looks as follows (please ignore all the toys in the pictures..):

Are you still happy with this setup? I'm considering this pot as a MLT.
