dumb airlock question

I have a S shaped airlock on a glass caboy, do I put the cap on the airlock?

Are you talking about the little platic cap with the holes in it? Yeah, put that on the airlock.

Don't forget to put some vodka (my personal choice) in the airlock.

or if no vodka, tap water a little sanitizer (one-step, star-san)

and you need to sanitize it prior to installation.
