Hello,

I will be racking to a secondary in about 10 days and will be adding hops. I have Muslim bags when boiling in hops, but when dry hopping is this ok to use? I am nervous about contamination. Should I just throw the hops in with no bag?

I don't use a bag. I just let them float around like beer synchronized swimmers. I don't use a bag because I see it as an added unnecessary expense.

I used cheese cloth and made a "hop ball" the first time. It works fine in a carboy going in....the hop ball swelled up after I put it in that it almost didn't come out! Lesson learned....just toss the hops straight into the secondary.
