For the first time ever, I did a search and got 0 results.

Anyone know if the new sweetener "Nectresse" they're advertising will ferment?

I just saw a commercial for it for the first time, and was wondering if it would be a viable option to sweeten my apfelwein.

I've never been a fan of artificial sweeteners, as I can always taste a chemically aftertaste. They tout this new sweetener is being all natural made from the monk fruit.

I actually bottled my first batch of apfelwein last night , and saw the commercial today.

Nectresse, as far as I can tell, is a sugar alcohol called Erythritol. That means it's not going to ferment- you need sugars, and specific ones at that. Glycerine/glycerol is the most common sugar alcohol, and it's used in many sugar-free foods.

I Didn't. The first response says it shouldn't but i'd like a case of someone who actually tried before I try it :)
