DME vs LME

In most of the discussions of malt extracts, it seems that Dry Malt Extract is preferable to Liquid Malt Extract. Why?

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered before...but searching for those terms hits just about every thread in this forum!!!

For a start it is easier to measure amounts with DME than LME and it's less messier.

The quality of DME is more consistent. If properly stored it can last for extended periods.
