Well, nothing too fancy, but I cobbled together a waterproof temperature probe.

Turned out better than I thought it would.

Used a 4x2x1 project box, 9v battery, a pre-made temp probe - http://tinyurl.com/grxhkxl - (although making it would be easy and cheaper), and a switch.

It reads spot on accurate at high and low ends (boiling/freezing). I can assume that it is accurate everywhere else too.

In the image, it is taped to my fermenter (with foam insulation) and is reading 20c. A perfect 68f.

For those that don't do Celcius, there is a F version as well.

You can get the display and the temp sensor on electronic supply sites.

My next one I will be building up from scratch. Trying to find a display that can show two temps at once (a computer temp display would work I think).

Also, I could have wired this with an AC adapter. But I like the battery option for Go Anywhere ability.

I will also make the probes "plugable" for easy of switching out in case a sensor goes bad.

EDIT: I can't figure out how to add photos - it just isn't working for me... here's a link to the thing https://goo.gl/photos/4BR8tpDhWzYC6eZZ6

As you can see, my hand slipped twice while cutting the box. Ah well... if gravy don't have lumps - it aint homemade!
