I was getting ready to buy a 5 Gallon Better Bottle and noticed that they look almost identical to Deer Park Water Jugs. Has anybody ever used a 5 Gallon jug? And, if so, did the #10 stoppers work or do they need to be modified?

I have access to Deer Park Jugs for free, thats why I'm asking.

The ones i have seen are all #7, a NONO for brewing.

Secondary mihght be OK by some people's standards, but I won't even drink cool water out of them.

No new discoveries find that these plastics are "less" harmful than previously thought. Some day they will find out that #2 and #5 are leaching something horrible too.

That said, I do use #5 buckets to ferment.

I drink more water than beer.;)

Just look at the bottom of one of the Bottles. If it's a #1, I'd say go for it. The biggest problem will be that lack of space in a 5G. I just scale my recipes down to 4.5 Gallons so I don't get massive blowoff.
