Culturing

So, I've been wondering about culturing yeast. Mainly what it is and how to do it. I looked for a sticky or a thread on it but couldnt find anything. May have just overlooked it . My main reason for asking is because I saw a culturing kit on morebeer.com and thought it looked intriguing...and because I want to know the benefits. Any sorta explanation would be much appreciated.

This was very informative. I'll definitely be using this as a reference if and when I decide to begin any sort of yeast culturing and what not. Seems it saves a decent amount of money in the long run.
