Ok, for my next beer-I want to do a cream stout---from extract

Do any of you have a recipe? Im searching the net and will post my recipe when I figure out how Im going to do it, but thought you guys may have the recipe.:mug: and Im thinking of like 8.5% final alc. You guys think thats to much?

:mug: That's on the high side for all the recipes I've done but, I add a little more extract myself. Try this for a 5 gal. recipe:
7lb. Dry Dark Malt Extract
.75lb roasted barley
1lb. flaked barley or (flaked oats for a oatmeal creme stout)
.5lb chocalate malt
.25lb Black Patent
Steep grains for 45 min @ 150 degrees
1.5oz. Northern Brewers hops @ 60min.
I use either Safale 04 or 05 or Nottinghams:mug:
This works out to 6.3% ABV with 34 IBU's

How about this--look like a cream stout--I have alot of these ingredients on hand

Cream & Oat Stout Recipe

7lb. Dry Dark Malt Extract

1lb lactose

8 oz roasted barley
10 oz naked oats
4 oz 60L
6 0z chocolate malt

Steep grains for 45 min @ 150 degrees
1oz nugget pellet
1/2 oz tettnang
boiled at 60 min

safale S-o4 Dry Ale Yeast

Drop the oats (unless they are quick oats) they don't steep well. The rest looks good.
As I said on another post, we're homebrewers there are no wrong things to do, just different.
