I was wondering if I could safely bottle in this. I got it from a friend who is a local brewer. It's a two liter bottle that holds yeast, pitchable for 5-7 bbls. If it holds yeast under pressure, would there be any reason it couldn't hold carbonating beer?

Ah, that's okay. Thanks for the input. It's very thick, and actually is Nalgene brand. It'll serve well as a water bottle. :)

You could try the old "put some beer in a P E T bottle to gauge your carbonation " trick, next time you bottle.

Give it a squeeze, cap it up, and see when the bottle starts to get rigid, or if it "domes" the bottom of the bottle.

Stick inside of a small, empty cooler, mind you, lest it decides it can't handle the stress!

You mentioned it was a "thick" material, and is it "P E T"?

Nalgene usually does not mess around when making containers, and the cap looks hell for stout!

I think you should get back to us on the issue............;)
