Hi Guys,

I got an idea in mind and would appreciate your views here; I want to do a Coopers Canadian Blonde but with few adds on for example:

GRAINS
1.7 lbs Maris Otter
14oz Carahell
6oz flaked barley

I will add also some Cascade and Saaz as hops addition, i don`t bother you here with quantities as the point is elsewhere

I got couple of questions:

1) Are the grains balanced properly?
2) What do you suggest? BE2 only or should i add DME (if so what quantity?)
3) What yeast do you recommend? Safale 04?

Thanks guys!

Those grains will have to be mashed,as marris otter is a base grain. Flaked barley will leave a clearer beer if mashed as well. Maybe 2lbs plain extra light DME with rehydrated US-05 for a light color & clean flavor. I'd add 1oz saaz @ 15 minutes left in the boil myself.

Since it's a light lager sort of ale flavor-wise,The saaz hops will aid in that sort of flavor,as it's commonly used in lagers. I like it in my hybrid lagers with WL029 ale/kolsh yeast. This liquid yeast gives good lager-like flavors in it's ideal ferment range of 65-69F. Great yeast for hybrids.
