carbing with dry extract

does anyone have a good system or rule of thumb for carbonating 5 gallon batches with dry extract?

1.25 cups of DME or 0.75 cups of Corn Sugar are the "rule of thumb" amounts. Keep in mind that temperature and desired level of carb will change that.

However they all go by weight.

If I remember right you use 1.25 cups per 5 gallons. It will definitely take longer to carbonate as well.

would i have to mix it with boiled water like priming sugar? or just add it right to the finished beer, mix, then bottle

Boil it up just like priming sugar. Don't be surprised if it takes 4-5 weeks to carbonate.

If you don't want to add more water to your brew remove some beer from your fermenter and boil that...
