Hello all.

Please can someone tell me if crystal and caraamber malts are the same thing in terms of imparting flavor and sweetness.

Cheers.

Caraamber is a type of crystal/caramel malt. The specific method of malting/kilning or roasting and cultivar of barley brings out different flavors versus the color reached. You can either do a direct replacement for the color (caraamber is listed at around 30 lov.) or get a flavor description and try to match with a crystal/caramel malt which gives you the same flavor profile.
