So I'm pretty new, as you might be able to tell.

Anyways I bought Mr. Beer like everyone else might have at one point. I recently upgraded to the amateur set, 6.5 gallon plastic bucket, more gadgets etc.

I guess my question is can I follow the Mr. Beer instructions and let the fermentation occur in my 5 gallon? Or would there be too much air, or what else could be wrong with that? Advice? Thanks!

Nah, do it to it man.. I did the same thing with my last Mr. Beer can I had when I got my new equipment.. The C02 is heavier than O2 so the first thing that will be pushed out of your airlock will be the 02.. let er rip tater chip!!
