Hey guys,

Did my first brew today with a Braumeister and only took the first OG reading after cooling. It was at 1.058 which is too high I guess.
For future reference is it ok to add water after cooling to get the OG down?
Do you profs take a reading before cooling and top up accordingly?

Thanks

Thanks for that. I think noobs like me are too cautious in the beginning. Great to hear that topping up isn't a problem.

I always top off due to my stove cant boil too much water. always boil 4 gallons and top off to 5.25. make my recipes on beersmith according to my equipment.
