The title kind of says it. Basically I could justify spending more $$ if my wife could use it for grinding flour

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't want to grind my malted barley into flour. As far as I can tell, the nutrimill only does 'fine to course flour'. "Cracked grain" is a much higher level of courseness than flour, if I understand the terminology correctly.I'm not sure what you mean by "...don't think they do cracked grain." Here's a couple grain mill comparison charts, they all show that the Nutrimill will grind dry grains.
