Hey all,

Want to build my own recipe using Beer Calculus and I'm starting with some base ingredients from an extract kit, however, the kit ingredient list just says "1 bag" when it comes to the specialty grains. It has Crystal Malt 20L, Crystal Malt 40L, Crystal Malt 60L. Does this mean it's equal parts? Any idea what the measurement is?

The kit is from Brewmaster's Select. Any and all help appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark

I would use a kitchen scale, measure it out, and enter it into Beer Calculus as all Crystal 40L. Your color could be slightly lighter or darker if the mixture was more heavily weighted towards the lower or higher lovibond, but it won't be a substantial difference. Same with gravity, might have an extra point in unfermentables from 60L vs. 20L, but the difference is essentially negligible.
