Is it a bad idea to "convert" a bottling bucket into a primary? Seems like a nice easy way to grab samples.

I figure as long as the bucket is sanitized its really the same thing, no?

If I racked to a secondary or at bottling I'd still use the siphon and not the spigot.

you can use the bottling bucket as a primary but you can't use the spigot to grab samples. The trub in the bottom will be over the spigot.

Did this for a while. The spigot is hard to clean out and nasties like to hide in there. Had several off batches that I attributed to contamination in the spigot.
