Im looking to brew this Friday and my wife, who doesnt drink very often, would like me to make her something similar to New Castle. I personal dont care for New Castle so Im looking for a way to make something similar but also tolerable. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good English Brown to give a go. Looking for nearly sessionable abv around 4.0% to 5%. 'Preciate the feedback

Are you all grain, partial mash, or extract? I thought Northern Brewers Nut Brown ale was a lot like Newcastle.
Only brewed it once for that reason. Went on to Caribou Slobber.

I thought this turned out delicious.

1.050
77% Marris otter, 8% Brown malt, 4% Amber malt, 6% 60L, 3% Pale Chocolate (200L)

Mash @ 152

25IBU total, A clean bittering hop.
Up to 3/4 oz of some english or noblish hop at knockout if you feel like it.

Treat water with CaCl over gypsum if nessecary.

Use a medium attenuating english yeast with some esters that you prefer, in the mid 60s.
